TRISTAN MACMANUS, HOST: It's been a whirlwind first few days for a new Prime Minister. Within hours of being sworn into the top job, Anthony Albanese jetted to Japan for high-level security and climate change talks with world leaders.

HARRIS: Now he is back and talking to us. Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, welcome home and congratulations on the new job.

KARL STEFANOVIC, HOST: It's been a whirlwind few days for Anthony Albanese, elected on Saturday night, sworn in as Prime Minister on Sunday, then straight on the plane to Tokyo to meet world leaders. He is back on our home soil now and joins us. Good morning, Prime Minister. On behalf of us here on the Today Show, and all our listeners, congratulations.

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: Good morning, Karl. It's great to be back on the Today Show.

STEFANOVIC: It's been a little bit of time – a week or so.

PETER STEFANOVIC, HOST: Joining us live now is the new Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese. Anthony Albanese, first of all, congratulations. We're still getting used to saying that title. You must still be getting used to hearing it.

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: Thanks very much, Peter. I am indeed. And we are in Marrickville, not far from my home. And having the flag on C1, I'm still getting used to it.

LANE: Firstly, your reaction to this report about the boat interception, you've asked for a review. What worries you about it?

HOST: Coming home to roost you to. This man demanded to come on after a number of comments you two made before the election. It gives me great pleasure to welcome Australia's newest Prime Minister, the Marrickville Mauler himself, Anthony Albanese.

And to your complete credit, first week in the job, six days in, and here you are on Triple M Perth. So, thank you. We appreciate it very much.

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: Firstly, can I thank you for your sincere congratulations on my election as Australia's 31st Prime Minister. It is an honour that this is my first act as Prime Minister, to attend this important Quad Leaders' meeting here in Japan.

And as we gather today, I acknowledge all that the Quad has achieved. Standing together for a free, open, and resilient Indo-Pacific region. And working together to tackle the biggest challenges of our time, including climate change and the security of our region.

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: The Government in Australia has changed, but this was an opportunity to tell our Quad partners—the United States, Japan and India—that the Government’s commitment to the Quad has not changed.

ANTHONY ALBANESE, PRIME MINISTER: Thank you very much Mr President. It's been an honour to start my Prime Ministership, and this new Government, by meeting with yourself and, obviously, with Prime Minister Kishida and Prime Minister Modi.
