More free GP visits
When you’re sick, seeing a doctor shouldn’t be a struggle.
That’s why we’ll make the biggest ever boost to Medicare, so you’ll be able to see a GP for free.
We’ll open 50 new free Medicare Urgent Care Clinics, on top of the 87 we’ve already got up and running.
And we’ll establish 1800 Medicare, a free, 24/7 health advice line and after hours GP telehealth service. All so you can get the care you need, when you need it.
Back to topCheaper medicine
Australians have already saved more than $1 billion with our cheaper medicines plan. We’ll help you save even more, by capping the price of PBS medicines at $25.
We’ve also added hundreds of new and amended listings to the PBS, for conditions like breast, prostate and lung cancer, making them affordable for everyone.
Because you should be able to get the medicine you need, without worrying about the cost.
Back to topWomen’s health
Too often, women’s health hasn’t been taken seriously. We’re changing that with an investment of more than half a billion dollars.
We will make new contraceptive pills cheaper, fund more free GP appointments for long term contraceptives like IUDs, and boost support for women experiencing menopause.
We’ve already opened 22 new endometriosis and pelvic pain clinics to help women get treatment sooner. And now we’ll open 11 more.
Back to topMental health
Mental health is essential to health. And with a billion-dollar investment, we’ll make sure Medicare cares for your mental health too.
We’re rolling out 61 free, walk-in Medicare Mental Health Centres now, with 31 new and upgraded centres on the way.
We’re also:
- expanding headspace for young people
- opening youth specialist centres for complex needs
- and training more mental health professionals.
Hospitals
Every Australian deserves quality healthcare when they need it most.
That’s why we’re boosting hospital funding by $1.8 billion – delivering more money for public hospitals in every state and territory.
Back to topAged care
Older Australians deserve the very best of care. That’s why we’ve put nurses back into nursing homes, ending a decade of neglect.
We’ve announced the biggest reforms to improve aged care in a generation, including the new Support at Home program. If older Australians want to stay at home, we’ll make sure they get the care they need – helping maintain independence for longer.
Our reforms will improve the funding and quality of aged care, protecting older Australians from harm and neglect.
