Help with the cost of living

Helping with the cost of living is our top priority. We’re working every day to make a real difference.

Tax cuts

We’re putting more money back in your pocket to help with the cost of living.

We’ve already rolled out tax cuts for every taxpayer. But we’ll do more, with another two tax cuts in 2026 and 2027.

And we’ll introduce a minimum $1,000 tax deduction every year for all workers. No more digging through a shoebox of receipts – we'll make sure low and middle income earners never pay more than they should.

Energy bill relief

In 2025, we’re taking another $150 off power bills for every household and around one million small businesses. The money will come straight off your bill.

Free TAFE

A good, secure job can change your life – and Free TAFE is opening up that opportunity for so many Australians.

Already, there have been almost 600,000 enrollments in courses from child care to cybersecurity, and from accounting to aged care.

We’ve made Free TAFE permanent, so even more Australians can have that opportunity.

Stronger Medicare

WWhen you’re sick, seeing a doctor shouldn’t be a struggle.

That’s why we’ll make the biggest ever boost to Medicare, so you’ll be able to see a GP for free.

We’ll open 50 new free Medicare Urgent Care Clinics, on top of the 87 we’ve already got up and running.

And we’ll establish 1800 Medicare, a free, 24/7 health advice line and after hours GP telehealth service. All so you can get the care you need, when you need it.

Support for students

We’re wiping 20% off everyone’s student debt. Because going to uni should open a lifetime of opportunities, not leave you with a lifetime of debt.

We’re introducing paid prac for students studying to be teachers, social workers, nurses and midwives. Because you shouldn’t have to worry about whether you can afford to do placements.

And we’re supporting the next generation of tradies with a $10,000 payment to help construction and clean-energy apprentices finish their studies.

Pay rises

If you’re on the minimum wage or an award, you received a pay rise of 3.5% from 1 July, 2025. That includes workers in hospitality, retail, community support and more.

We advocated for you to get a real pay rise, above inflation – and now the Fair Work Commission have delivered on it.

Cheaper child care

We want every child to get the best start in life, without costs getting in the way.

That’s why we made child care cheaper, saving families thousands of dollars a year. We’ve also guaranteed three days of child care subsidy for children who need it.

And we’ll build new centres where they’re needed most – not to make profit, but to make sure you can get affordable child care in our suburbs and regions.

Support for parents

We’re delivering more support, financial security and flexibility for parents by extending paid parental leave to 6 months.

And from 1 July 2025, super has been added to government paid parental leave – because it’s the fair thing to do.

We know how hard single parents work to give their children a better life. We’ve expanded access to the single parent payment, helping more than 200,000 families.
