MARK GIBSON, HOST: Well, in the past week or so, the Prime Minister and the Treasurer have been outselling that Federal Budget, headlined by things like the Future Made in Australia plan with billions of dollars pumped into that. We got rock getting tax cuts in July that we knew about, some more energy rebates. But is it all going to drive inflation up or down? That's one of the big questions. At nine minutes to seven, Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, he joins me. Good morning.

AUSTIN: Do you know, or does the Australian Government know, when the French gendarmerie expect to have the situation under control?

THOMAS ORITI, HOST: We've had almost a week now to digest all the details in the federal Budget. Tackling the nation's cost of living crisis and addressing the rise in violence against women were at the top of the Government's agenda. I noted some new polling out by Resolve Strategic. It shows 40 per cent of respondents believe the budget's good for them. And to put that in perspective, that's up 31 per cent in last year's Budget.

The Albanese Government is making critical investments in Victorian infrastructure, creating jobs and unlocking Melbourne’s North.

This week’s Budget delivers an additional $750 million to complete the Camerons Lane Interchange at the intersection of the Hume Freeway at Beveridge.

This takes the total Commonwealth Government commitment to the project to $900 million, part of our $19.2 billion investment in Victorian transport infrastructure over the next 10 years.

EPSTEIN: I do want to talk about your Budget, but first, what would you say to your tenant? He says he's got nowhere to go.

PATRICIA KARVELAS, HOST: There's been mixed reaction to the Albanese Government's third Budget with big spending on electricity bill subsidies for everyone and the big future made in Australia's centerpiece, nearly $23 billion over the next decade for critical minerals, hydrogen and manufacturing.
