Visit to Papua New Guinea for Golden Jubilee

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will travel to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea from 15 to 17 September to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Papua New Guinea’s independence.

Australia is proud to participate in this milestone celebration. 

Papua New Guinea is not only one of our closest neighbours but also the truest of friends. 

Our unique relationship has been forged by shared history, mutual respect and ongoing collaboration.

Australia’s partnership with Papua New Guinea is comprehensive and includes support for health, security, education, infrastructure, development, gender equality, sport and agriculture.

In addition to the anniversary celebrations, Prime Minister Albanese will meet with the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, the Honourable James Marape MP.

Prime Minister Albanese will be joined in Port Moresby by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, the Hon Richard Marles MP, and Minister for Pacific Island Affairs the Hon Pat Conroy MP.
