Governor-General to lead Australian representation at International Solar Alliance Founding Conference

I am pleased to announce that the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Ret’d), and Lady Cosgrove have agreed to represent Australia at the International Solar Alliance Founding Conference in New Delhi from 10 to 11 March.

The Governor-General will deliver a statement on behalf of Australia, which is one of 26 founding members of the ISA. The ISA aims to promote the roll out of solar technology and solar energy uptake amongst countries that lie in the sun-rich belt between the tropics.

During the Summit, the Governor-General will meet with the Prime Minister, the Honourable Mr Narendra Modi, and the President of the French Republic, His Excellency Mr Emmanuel Macron.

As part of a broader bilateral visit after the summit, the Governor-General will meet with business leaders in New Delhi and Chennai, address educational institutions with Australian links, view an Australian-funded aid project in Nizamuddin Basti, officially open an ANZAC Centenary exhibition, and visit an Indian Coast Guard vessel which is playing a role in enhancing regional security.
