  • Australia mourns the passing of Shimon Peres, his life was as eventful as it was long: his passion for the State of Israel, which he helped found, as strong as his commitment to peace.

  • There is real action here in Western Sydney, you can see our $3.6 billion plan happening right now. This is creating jobs in Western Sydney right now. We are working with the State Government - I'm here with Minister for Roads, Duncan Gay, the local State Member Chris Patterson, Marise Payne, the Senator from Western Sydney and Defence Minister and of course, Angus Taylor, Member for Hume and the Assistant Minister for Cities.

  • The second report card on the Western Sydney Infrastructure Plan has been released today, highlighting a surge in jobs growth on the back of the Australian and New South Wales governments’ $3.6 billion infrastructure investment in the region.

  • Just one year on from the launch of nbn’s fibre-to-the-node service, more than a quarter of a million Australian homes and businesses are now benefiting from high-speed broadband and 854,000 addresses can access the fibre-to-the-node (FTTN) and fibre-to-the building (FTTB) service.

  • I’ve just come from Washington yesterday and everybody I met, from the intelligence community to the Defence Secretary - everybody spoke so warmly and so appreciatively of the work that the Australian Defence Force does right around the world in partnership in our alliance with the United States.

  • No institution or infrastructure is more important to the future prosperity and freedom of our global community than the Internet. It powers, it punctuates our daily lives, supports our business transactions and joins our nations in what is truly a world wide web.

  • It’s great to be here in Washington meeting with security leaders, reinforcing our strong alliance, our strong partnership for freedom. We’ve met today with the Director of the National Security Agency, the Director of the CIA, the Director of National Intelligence and with the Defence Secretary Ash Carter.
