Australian Government coat of arms

Prime Minister of Australia

The Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP

01 December 2015

  • Prime Minister: Hi, I'm Malcolm Turnbull and I'm here with Greg Hunt and we are here in Paris in a spirit of realistic optimism and commitment to ensuring that we have a global agreement.

  • Michael Brissenden: World leaders have spoken in dire terms about the challenge global warming poses at the start of a UN climate change conference in France. Both the host, President Francois Hollande, and US President Barack Obama say it's crunch time when it comes to the negotiations on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has come to the talks with some announcements to show Australia is serious about tackling the issue.

  • Mr President, Secretary General, Excellencies, distinguished delegates, ladies and gentlemen. From Australia we come with confidence and optimism. We are not daunted by our challenge. It inspires us. It energises us.

29 November 2015

  • Prime Minister Turnbull: We are here – the New Zealand Prime Minister and the Australian Prime Minister and our wives – and we are here offering the people of France, the people of Paris, our most heartfelt condolences and our unflinching solidarity in the face of this terrorism.

  • Thank you very much Kate and thank you all very much for such a warm welcome. To Peter Hood, President of the Australian Chamber, Kerry Weatherill, Deputy President and Tim Reed, Chief Executive of MYOB, ladies and gentlemen. There has never been a more exciting time to be at the Australian Chamber tonight, and that’s because, well some of you are visitors, but let me tell you there has never been a more exciting time to be Australian.
