President of the Philippines To Visit Australia

Prime Minister Julia Gillard today announced that His Excellency Benigno Simeon Aquino III, President of the Republic of the Philippines, will visit Australia from 23 to 26 October at the invitation of the Governor-General of Australia, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO.
Australia and the Philippines enjoy a warm and wide-ranging relationship with a long history of bilateral cooperation, and share mutual interests in the prosperity, development and security of the region.
President Aquino will be accompanied by senior ministers and Philippine business leaders.
In addition to Canberra, President Aquino will visit Sydney, where he will focus on trade and investment links and meet with the Philippine community.
The President’s busy schedule includes a visit to the Australian War Memorial, where he will lay a wreath and make a tour of the galleries.
The President will also call on the Governor-General during his visit, and attend a State Lunch held in his honour at Government House, Canberra.
The visit will also provide Australian business leaders with an opportunity to engage directly with President Aquino and Philippine Ministers and business leaders during an evening function hosted by the Asia Society and the Australia-Philippines Business Council.
