  • What a beautiful temple, built in 1818 – the oldest in the city. We’ve been talking this morning about investment, about innovation, about all of the elements that add to stronger trade and stronger economic growth.

  • Vice President, Ministers, Ambassadors, distinguished guests; it is great to be here at the Laos Australia Institute. I want to thank the Vice President Dr Viphavanh for joining me to open the Institute. Also thank the Director of the Institute Bill Pennington and his counterparts at the Foreign Languages Resource Centre for hosting us here today. As you know I have flown in for Hangzhou China, after attending the G20 Summit for my first official visit to Laos, to Vientiane, during the ASEAN-Australia and East Asia Summits.

  • Ms Souphaphone Souannavong (Nana): Welcome to the launch of the Laos chapter of the Mekong Angel Investors Network, a program close to the hearts of all startups and Angel Investors in Vientiane. I would now like to invite the Prime Minister onto the stage to officially launch the network – please welcome.

  • PRIME MINISTER: It’s great to see you and the team again, be reunited. We’ve got a lot to talk about here.

  • PRIME MINISTER: Thank you Prime Minister Thongloun for your warm and generous welcome.

  • PRIME MINISTER: Shinzo, it is so good to see you. We’ve had some very good discussions in Hangzhou in the course of the G20 but it is a good time now to have a more formal discussion with our officials.
