The Government has confirmed that the site for Western Sydney’s new airport will be Badgerys Creek. For more than 50 years governments have talked about a second airport for Sydney. The talk is over. The final decision has been made.

Today, I formally launch Japan's involvement in Australia's New Colombo Plan. This important policy will foster closer ties between Australia and our region and develop stronger people-to-people and institutional links.
Australia has concluded negotiations on an historic Economic Partnership Agreement with Japan, our second biggest trading partner. This historic agreement is good for the Australian economy, good for jobs, good for farmers and good for consumers.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, as an official guest of the Government of Japan held a summit meeting on 7 April 2014. The two leaders confirmed their intention to further strengthen the long-standing friendship and elevate the strategic partnership between Japan and Australia to a new special relationship, based on common values and interests including democracy, human rights, the rule of law, open markets and free trade.
