  • PRIME MINISTER: Well firstly, let me say how heartbroken we all are by the terrible accident at Dreamworld yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who were killed in that shocking accident. Three of the four people who died yesterday were members of the Australian Public Service and the APS and their community is in mourning with them.

  • The Commonwealth Government will invest $8 million to rebuild the Waltzing Matilda Centre, after a fire destroyed part of the building last year.

  • The Commonwealth Government is delivering critical telecommunications infrastructure to connect some of the most remote and iconic parts of regional Queensland.

  • I was very sad to learn of the death of Bruce Goodluck.

  • DANNY KENNEDY: Now firstly I know you had this trip to the outback on your radar, but with the tragedy at Dreamworld yesterday were you thinking of postponing it or scrapping it and going to the Gold Coast?

  • Well it’s great to be here with the member for Brisbane, Trevor Evans. We've had a very good discussion about our approach to cities is going to mean better investment, better outcomes, greater liveability for the people of Brisbane.

  • Does Senator George Brandis, Queensland Member of the Cabinet and Australia’s Attorney-General, hold the Prime Ministers full confidence given what occurred overnight with Australia’s Solicitor-General, his resignation? This is the Prime Minister.

  • The Commonwealth Government will provide $10 million to progress planning and early works for Brisbane’s Cross River Rail and to support the establishment of the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority.

  • I’m very saddened to learn of the tragic accident at Dreamworld earlier today. Theme parks are a place for family fun and happiness, not tragedy. This is a very, very, sad, tragic event. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives.
