The Hon Malcolm Turnbull MP

06 May 2016

  • Prime Minister: My Government’s economic plan driving jobs and growth, seizing the opportunities of the 21st century economy is built upon pillars of innovation, of open markets of trade, investment, investment in our Defence industries. Today I'm delighted to be here with the Trade and Investment Minister Steven Ciobo and the special envoy for trade Andrew Robb, to announce the achievement of our ambitious vision for enhanced economic integration and cooperation with Singapore.

  • The foundations of the Australia-Singapore partnership are our shared strategic perspective and complementary economies. We share interests in the political stability and economic prosperity of our region, and have worked together as like-minded partners to foster these interests. Australia and Singapore share an ambitious vision for further cooperation and seamless economic integration between our countries in the years ahead.

  • Prime Minister: Thank you very much Lord Mayor for your very warm welcome, it’s great to be here. This is a room of considerable talent. All of you have got a passion for cities. Every single one of you. The Federal Ministers, Angus, of course, who opened proceedings. Paul Fletcher, Minister for Major Projects and Greg Hunt, Environment Minister - my parliamentary colleagues and all of the distinguished planners, not least of whom of course is the Chief Commissioner of the Greater Sydney Commission, my dear wife, Lucy who is here with her colleague the Deputy Commissioner. Right across the room, all of you understand that our cities are a part of our greatest economic assets.
