Community Cabinet

PM Gillard addresses her first Community Cabinet in Queensland

Community Cabinet meetings are part of the Government’s commitment to close consultation with Australians. They provide an opportunity to listen to and learn from local communities around the country and are held in a variety of locations in each State and Territory.

Community Cabinet meetings have three distinct elements:

  • One-on-One meetings where an individual or small group of individuals can meet with a minister to discuss a particular issue of concern,
  • a Community Reception which provides an opportunity for the public to informally mingle, and
  • a Public Forum (question and answer session) with the Prime Minister and attending ministry.

To attend a Community Cabinet meeting, people must register on the Community Cabinet registration page.
