Quick Answers: How Jobs Will Be Protected In Australia’s Clean Energy Future

  • How will jobs be protected? A Jobs and Competitiveness Program will provide $9.2 billion over the period to 2014-15 to assist the most emissions‑intensive activities in the economy that are exposed to international competition.  This will support local jobs, encourage industry to invest in cleaner technologies and avoid ‘carbon leakage’ offshore.

Helping teenage parents

Our Government knows that being a parent is a huge challenge for anybody and even more so for the more than 11,000 teenage parents who live in Australia.

We are determined to provide these parents with the support and skills that they need to build a good life for themselves and for their young families.

Skilled workers for the resources sector

Yesterday I announced a range of reforms that will help more Australians get high paying skilled jobs in the resource sector.

It is a priority of this Government to ensure that Australians can access the training they need to ensure they are first in line to take new opportunities in the mining industry.
