Operation Queensland Flood Assist is in full swing after the Prime Minister Gillard announced the Australian Defence Force would help Queensland with the flood clean-up.

Thousands of Queenslanders returning to their homes after the floods have an enormous clean-up ahead of them.  Many of Brisbane’s roads and bridges as well as much of its infrastructure will be in need of repair and a long recovery lies ahead.

To assist Queensland with its clean-up and recovery, Prime Minister Gillard today announced the largest deployment of Australian Defence Force personnel to assist with a natural disaster recovery since Cyclone Tracy in 1974.
